Privacy Policy

The short version: your documents never leave your device. Markdown to PDF converts Markdown to PDF inside your web browser. We don’t have accounts, we don’t upload your files, and we can’t see what you write.

What happens to your documents

• Editing and conversion run locally in your browser. The PDF is produced by your browser’s own print engine on your device.
• Autosave keeps your current draft and style settings in your browser’s local storage (and IndexedDB for very large documents) so they’re there when you come back. This data stays on your device; you can delete it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
• Share links contain your document compressed inside the part of the link after #. Browsers never send that part to a web server, so the content isn’t transmitted to or stored by us. Anyone you give the link to can read the document.
• Files you open from your computer are read by your browser only. When you save, the file is written back on your device.

Requests to other websites

Some features make your browser contact other servers directly:

• Import from link fetches the file you asked for from that website (for example GitHub’s API for README and Gist links).
• Images in your document are loaded from wherever they are hosted, like on any web page.

Those sites see a normal request from your browser and are governed by their own privacy policies. Fonts and all other code are served from our own domain.

What we collect

We don’t use cookies, advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and reliability. These logs don’t contain your documents.

Children

The service is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone.

If we ever add analytics or other data processing, we’ll update this page before doing so and change the date above.
